“Thoughts are Things”

Thoughts are things

With all the coverage of the FIFA world cup I wanted to include in this update some comments from the world of football on thinking, the mind and imagination.

The first person who came to my mind was the famous Scotsman Bill Shankly who all Liverpool FC fans will remember. As well as his quote at the end of this update he also described his unbelieveable pride when playing for Scotland against “the auld enemy ” England. The players would become William Wallace or Robert the Bruce for 90 minutes after pulling on the Blue Scotland jersey. This was noted by football commentators who said ” Bill (Shankly) is a real Scotland player who fights until he drops”

Do you remember when you were younger, when Wimbledon was on imagining being Boris Becker or Martina Navratalova?

Did you play better at football when you got to be Maradona or Beckham?

This ability to use our imagination to improve our performance has been scientifically proven.

The ability to think and use our imagination to improve our results is a powerful tool. At Mindstore we train adults to re-mind themselves of these skills in our workshops and development days.

The truth is that we all had these skills as children, active powerful right brains, the creative, imaginative side but as we grow older most of us stop using it or trusting it.

At MindStore we are passionate about helping everyone to rekindle that way of thinking so the next time you are faced with a challenge at work you can take a few moments to use these tools and then come out, rip open your shirt and have a big red S underneath!

Thoughts are things!

A final thought……

“A lot of football success is in the mind. You must Believe that you are the best and then you make sure that you are.”
